Mora Hotel & Spa has been a staple of Swedish hospitality for decades, situated in the heart of Dalarna, a region known for its rich culture, stunning nature, and the world-famous Vasaloppet ski race. When the family took over Mora Hotel, they inherited an outdated booking system that, while functional, was inefficient. Over time, it became clear that an upgrade was needed. “Around 18 months or so ago, we realised that our system was failing us” Petter says, “We assessed the alternatives and after thorough interviews, we decided on VisBook.” 

Ease of use was a major factor in their decision. “The learning curve was much shorter. With our previous system, training a new employee took three to four weeks” explains Petter, “but with VisBook, it’s just three to four days.” This significantly reduced onboarding time for new hires, improving the hotel’s overall efficiency.

Petter shared a recent example: “We recently hired a new receptionist on a trial basis, and by the third day, she was handling check-ins and booking requests on her own.’ This demonstrates the intuitiveness and user-friendly nature of VisBook, allowing staff to become confident in the system quickly.

Mora Hotel caters to a diverse guest mix, with visitors from across Europe, particularly Germany, France, and the UK. Speaking about this, Petter says that the “international guests help extend our tourist season. They don’t follow the Swedish industrial holidays, so we see different waves of visitors throughout the year.” 

The recent opening of an airport in Sälen has further boosted international tourism. “A new airport in Sälen has targeted the UK market. Even though most visitors land in Sälen, many rent cars and explore the region, bringing more traffic to Mora.” 

A major draw for international and domestic tourists alike is the prestigious Vasaloppet, Sweden’s most famous cross-country ski race. Mora Hotel is an official partner of the event, ensuring that participants and spectators have a seamless stay. “We work closely with Vasaloppet to ensure guests get the best possible experience. For next year, we’re planning to have race bibs ready in rooms upon check-in and offer baggage pick-up services.” VisBook plays a helping role in this process, with Mora Hotel making use of VisBook’s reminder function, allowing their staff to coordinate these extra services.
