Lisebergsbyn – Nature a Stone’s Throw from Gothenburg

"I feel you get a lot of help when you call support, and no question feels too silly to ask. The support site is also extremely helpful when we need quick answers. "

Just minutes from central Gothenburg, nestled by Skatås and Delsjön Nature Reserve, Lisebergsbyn is a unique combination of convenience and tranquility. It’s a place where families, friends, and adventure-seekers alike can find a comfortable stay – whether it’s in a cabin, a campsite, or even a campervan spot. We spoke to Reception Team Leaders, Camilla Andersson and Linn Thulin Vikman, to find out more.

“The environment is definitely a big part of what makes us unique. Plus, guests can choose how they want their stay – one night, three nights, five nights, or even a full week. They can pick whether they want a hostel room, a tent pitch, a cabin, or a spot for their campervan,” says Camilla.

Making Complex Operations Simple

Managing such a wide variety of accommodations and guest preferences at Lisebergsbyn is no small feat, but VisBook helps simplify the process. One of the biggest advantages is how easily the team can handle spontaneous bookings and drop-in guests.

“The quick-allocation function in VisBook makes it possible for us to quickly place drop-in guests directly into available slots,” explains Camilla . This capability is especially valuable during the busy summer period when Lisebergsbyn becomes a hub for both planned and spontaneous stays.

Managing group bookings has also become significantly easier. VisBook’s practical note-taking function helps the team keep track of specific requirements and room arrangements. “For group bookings including children, we use the notes fields extensively. We clearly divide the rooms – for example, which rooms are for girls, boys, and accompanying parents. It’s very practical because it’s immediately visible upon arrival,” shares Camilla.

Linn adds that VisBook’s ability to show notes directly on the arrival and departure lists is invaluable during busy periods: “It’s really convenient on a summer day when it’s completely full. You get all the information you need without any clutter, and if something is added, it’s just a quick click to view it. I think it’s great.”

Streamlining Communication and Email Handling

The team also appreciates how VisBook integrates email communication into guest profiles. This feature ensures that all communication with guests is logged and easily accessible.

“If someone emails in with a lot of questions about their stay – like bedding, bringing a dog, or needing a baby cot – we reply via VisBook. That way, it’s all logged and easy to track later without having to search through the inbox,” explains Camilla.

This integration not only saves time but also reduces confusion, especially when multiple team members are handling different bookings.

A Versatile System Across Multiple Locations

Beyond Lisebergsbyn in Skatås, the team also manages Lisebergs Camping Askim Strand, another location open during the summer season. VisBook’s centralised system makes it easy to monitor both locations without unnecessary duplication of effort.

“We regularly check each other’s bookings and statuses between Askim and Lisebergsbyn. We rarely book on behalf of each other to avoid confusion, but it’s great to have that visibility,” says Linn.

The ability to view bookings from both locations in one system ensures smooth coordination and communication between sites, helping the team stay proactive rather than reactive.

Training and Support: Learning and Development

One of the biggest challenges for any hospitality operation is training new staff, particularly seasonal workers. Camilla and Linn have found that with VisBook, consistent use and hands-on learning make all the difference.

“We have four training days for new and seasonal employees, and much of it revolves around VisBook,” says Linn. “It’s a lot for them to take in at first, but we guide them through the basics and make sure they know how to handle the most common tasks.”

Both Camilla and Linn give credit to the VisBook support team for being accessible and helpful. “I feel you get a lot of help when you call support, and no question feels too silly to ask,” says Camilla. She also points out how valuable the online manuals and training resources are: “We update our manuals every year, and the support site is extremely helpful when we need quick answers,” she notes.

Looking ahead, Camilla and Linn hope to optimize their conference packages using VisBook’s more advanced features. They also want to keep exploring new functionalities to get even more out of the system. As Camilla puts it: “We probably know less about VisBook than we think. There’s so much it can do that we haven’t fully explored yet.”

A Positive Attitude and a Learning Mindset

Ultimately, Camilla and Linn agree that using VisBook has become a core part of their daily operations – and they’re continually learning. “I’m very satisfied with VisBook. I discover something new every day, and you can’t know everything immediately. It’s part of the journey,” Camilla concludes.

With VisBook as an integral part of their operations, Lisebergsbyn continues to deliver exceptional guest experiences, while making life easier for the dedicated team behind it all.
